"Grocery bags galore" salution!

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

Am I the only one with a knee-high deep pile of grocery and Walmart bags in the kitchen?! I doubt it! Back at home in our apartment we use our bags as trash bags for our kitchen garbage {we definitely need a larger kitchen garbage can though} and our bathroom garbage.

... SO today I finally figured out what to turn this empty chip container into!
 {side note}- mine wasn't actually a Pringles container, but it was an off brand of chips JUST LIKE them from Walmart for $1.50! They totally taste the same and definitely beat Pringles price which is like a whole dollar more! (but I'm also in Canada). My favorite flavor is the cheese one! {end of side note}

 Back to the grocery bag issue...
I decided to make a trash bag holder/dispenser with my empty chip container.
With scrapbook paper, ribbon, glue stick, and glue gun I made this

I used a nail to poke through the can for the ribbon to go through.

With an exacto knife I cut a hole a little bigger than a quarter so I could pull the bags out.

I was able to tightly fit 18 grocery bags inside.

For now while we're here in Saskatchewan I'll keep it in the bathroom for the trash can in there, but when we go home I'll keep it on a hook inside the cupboard under the kitchen sink.

That's such a cute idea! Jess, you're so creative! You made me laugh when you said you need a bigger trash can, because we have the same problem :)

What a great idea! I have to run out and buy some Pringles so I can make one for the bathroom! It will be great for bags for the kitty box! Right now they are shoved in the cupboard!

I love it! It's so pretty too. I just cram mine in a small empty box. Maybe I should take the time to make it pretty too! Visiting from Fireflies & Jellybeans.

SO cute, and such a great idea!! You inspired me to make my own today, even though I didn't have a wide ribbon to finish my edges with. I'm sharing a link to your post on my FB & blog today, too! Thanks for sharing your idea ~ I'm your newest follower, too!

Thought this was a great idea but once I actually got it together and made one turned out to be a big NOT! First, it cant hold hardly any trash bags. Second, it didnt hold up to pulling the trash bags through the whole even after super glueing!!! This was pretty darn useless.

I just love how people choose to appear "anonymous" whenever they're leaving a rude comment ;) That's too bad your trash bag holder didn't work out for you- mine's still working great.. even without super glue.
